Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

If there is one thing you should know about me…it’s that I love shoes!
I love the different styles, colors, materials…everything. And I must say, shoes are most definitely one of my favorite things to photograph.

My favorite shoes?
Toms, boat shoes, and my black flats from Aldo.

Here are the beautiful shoes from my 2011 brides…

Happy Thursday friends!

DIY Weekend | Rustic Desk

A DIY weekend is what we asked for, and that is (for sure) what we got. We spent about 9 hours working on a new table to use as my photography desk. We made it to fit perfectly in a little “cubby” in our living room.

Friday I went out and bought the stain, brushes, sandpaper, and legs.
Then Saturday we started off the day at Lowes…over an hour at Lowes. We bought the wood and the screws (to attach the legs), not to mention the storage unit we bought to keep me camera equipment more organized in our guest room (but that’s another story)!

First, we started by putting the legs together.

We didn’t get that far into the project until we noticed that the legs didn’t have any holes to attach them to the top of the desk. So, my handy dandy engineer figured out a way to make “brackets” out of the remaining wood we had purchased.

Skittle break!

We stood the table up and it was time to sand it (yes, we did all this in our living room)

We stained it with a “sun bleached” stain, to give it the rustic look.

Before and after!

All in place…my new home office desk! (We still have some finishing touches to do and a couple more things to hang up around it, but this is the gist of it)

Some decor!

Logo folder (product of my new stamp)!

Stamping Time

Look what came in the mail yesterday! I am so excited to put my new logo stamp to good work (once my products from PaperSource come in the mail). I’ve been working on branding and packaging ideas a lot lately and am excited to share some exciting things that are yet to come.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Keep posted for photos and a post from a “DIY weekend” at our house. This could get interesting…

Frosty Friday

Now, this is the kind of January weather I am used to. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 50+ degree weather, and (quite frankly) I hate being cold, but there is just a real beauty that comes with the snowy winter days of a Pittsburgh January.

I found these vibrant red berries on the bare bushes outside my house…

Enjoy your weekend and stay warm!

Top Ten Tuesday | Pinterest

This year, I want to get in a habit of blogging more and more consistently. So I figured I’d try something new…Top Ten Tuesdays. Let’s see where this takes us.

For those of you that don’t have Pinterest, (go sign up for it right now…your life will never be the same…nor will you ever have free time again) I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite finds on that site! I’ve seen pins that’ve made me cry, laugh, dream, create and spend money. Enjoy!

My “someday” office (minus buddha)

One word…Inspiring.

Scratch-off map…genius!

Oh what I would do to have a loft like this…

Someday I will have this porch swing/bed/utopia

I kind of have a thing for cards…and this one is brilliant!

White kitchen (check), island (check), booth table (check)

Coffee and donuts! Seriously…2 of my absolute favorites!

Adorable. I don’t think being Mr. and Mrs. will ever get old!

Toms Ballet Flats!!!

Cara + Dan | New Year’s Eve Wedding

I don’t even know where to begin with these two. They are truly a genuine couple and such a joy to be around. Their entire day was completely Christ-centered…I don’t think I cried this much at a wedding since my best friend got married a year and a half ago. Cara walked down the aisle barefoot, and when she was asked why, she replied “I view marriage as Holy ground.” Wow! They also exchanged their own written vows and washed each others feet during the ceremony. Following their passionate ceremony was a beautiful, small, rustic-themed reception (and she got all her ideas off Pinterest and Etsy – you know I love that!) And the night ended with a surprise from her dad – lighting floating lanterns and sending them up into the sky.

They are just smitten for each other and I couldn’t have been more excited to share in their day! Congratulations Cara and Dan, I know God has mighty plans for you two in California!

Happy New Year!

Wow! 2011 was a absolutely incredible year.  “Every month brought a wave of change and through the change, a challenge to grab ahold of the opportunity to grow.” This was a quote from a favorite blogger of mine, Jamie Delaine. And the same rings true for my year in 2011. Not only did I marry my very best friend, but I also started a new job as the missions coordinator at my church and my photography career hit the ground running! I really learned a lot about myself, who God created me to be and how I could be best used to further His Kingdom.

2011 came with many new discoveries, new memories and new accomplishments!

Mike and I saw 1 more ballpark this year (Nationals Park).
We saw the Red Sox play in the ‘burgh.
We saw Taylor Swift in concert (and yes, Mike and I were screaming the whole time).
We became Pitt football season ticket holders.
I discovered Pinterest and Hobby Lobby.
And, I got my very own treadmill!

2012 has a lot in store already! I have lots of dreams, goals, and plans that I am looking forward to see come to life this year!

Get back into running…on my new treadmill!
Visit 3-4 more ballparks (New York and California, here we come)!
Go back to Kenya with Mike.
Become an official business entity (we are actually doing that this week…hooray)!
Take Mike skiing for the first time.
Go to a photography convention/expo in Cincy with my wedding photographer!
Learn, read and grow more as a photographer!
Try something new…perhaps knitting?
Make much use of Pinterest, trying new recipes and making more crafts.
Become awesome at Dance Central 2 on our new Kinect!
We have a lot of weddings to look forward to and many more stories to tell and friends to make!

Thank you all so much for you love and support throughout 2011! Looking forward to another great year in 2012!

Crafty Christmas

Pinterest got the best of me (to say the least) this Christmas. I had a blast making gifts this year and the wrapping was my favorite part. I hope you all had a great Christmas! I know Mike and I had a wonderful first Christmas, from cutting our tree down, to decorating the house and just being able to spend all of Christmas together…something that we’ve been waiting 7 years to do!

Christmas Morning!!

Jill + Dan | Pittsburgh Engagement | Roberto Clemente Bridge & Mt. Washington

Jill and Dan make an absolutely stunning couple. We enjoyed the city photo session and even snuck in some Steeler photos while the game was going on. Enjoy some of my favorites from the shoot. Can’t wait for their wedding next fall!
